Based on motifs from the high culture of Java, some of which were restricted to royalty, the artisans of Jenggala have hand painted the motifs onto functional and decorative ceramic forms. Using just one color on a gloss ivory base reveals the subtle details of this skilled craft. The national hero, RA Kartini, who is known as a pioneer in woman's rights in Indonesia, is celebrated in this collection.
